For this dainty little wall hanging craft
you will need:
3 dark colored background squares 8" long x 7
1/2" wide
light colored fabrics for hearts
backing fabric
batting
fusible backing
motifs for heart centers cut from fabric
scraps
ribbon
thread
What you do:
From your dark colored fabrics cut 3 squares from dimensions above.
Cut 3 hearts measuring 6" long and 5 1/2" wide at
widest out of coordinating fabrics
Apply fusible webbing to back of hearts, following package directions.
Center hearts on background squares carefully and fuse.
You can, at this point, also hand or machine
stitch around the hearts using the buttonhole stitch. It is an option.
Now, choose 3 motifs that are about 1" - 1 1/2"
in size to fuse to the center of your heart. This can be fun. I had a floral
fabric, and I cut out single blooms and leaves and easily fused them to the
centers of the hearts. Just make sure you keep the size in conjunction with the
heart.
Join 3 squares together side by side with a
straight machine stitch.
Cut backing fabric and batting same size as top.
Layer, top right side up, backing right side down and batting on top.
Cut 3 ribbon loops each about 4" long. Place raw
edges of ribbon even with raw edges between top and backing. Pin one at either
end and one in the middle.
Now sew around entire outer edge in 1/4" seam allowance and leave a 4" opening
to turn.
Trim corners and excess bulk.
Turn and press gently.
Sew up opening and hang for everyone to admire.
